Long before the business had a name, our founder, Jeff Smieja, was already known for his dedication to doing things right.

Jeff’s journey began in Wisconsin, where home improvement is often seen as not only a career, but a calling. With over 20 years of experience in remodeling—including tile work, flooring, electrical, framing, drywalling, painting, and cabinet installation—he became the person homeowners turned to when they wanted peace of mind for their project. From small home repairs to whole-home additions, he built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and enduring reliability.

In 2005, Jeff moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he continued refining his skillset. While offering a wide array of remodeling services, cabinetry gradually became his specialty. As word of his work spread, projects grew in size and complexity—and Jeff didn't just rise to the challenge, he thrived on it. His ability to approach each installation and dial in every detail quickly set him apart, making him the go-to installer for intricate, high-end cabinetry.

When Jeff moved to the coast in 2020, his commitment to quality remained unchanged. Big or small, simple or complex, every build began with the same mindset: deliver work that lasts, never cut corners, and treat each home as if it were his own.

In January 2025, he officially founded Driftwood Home Designs, a natural evolution of decades of experience and a lifetime commitment to craftsmanship.
